About this course
About this course
The Green Belt Upgrade programme is designed for Yellow Belt practitioners ready to move from project contributor to project leader. The self-paced eLearning format builds on Yellow Belt foundations to deliver the project-level methodology, statistical technique and leadership capability expected of Green Belt practitioners, without duplicating material already covered at Yellow Belt.
Who should attend
The programme is aimed at Yellow Belt qualified staff preparing to lead DMAIC improvement projects, continuous improvement specialists expanding their formal qualification, and experienced practitioners who need to upgrade from an existing Yellow Belt to a recognised Green Belt credential. Delegates should hold a Yellow Belt qualification or equivalent prior knowledge before starting the upgrade programme. The self-paced format suits staff whose work patterns make live classroom attendance difficult.
What the programme covers
Content covers the full DMAIC framework at project-leader depth, advanced process mapping and value stream analysis, statistical process control, basic hypothesis testing, measurement system analysis, design of experiments foundation concepts, failure mode and effects analysis, solution selection frameworks and control plan design. The programme also addresses the soft skills of project leadership including stakeholder management, team facilitation, progress reporting to sponsors and the handling of resistance to change. Content assumes Yellow Belt foundations rather than starting from zero.
Assessment and certification
Learners complete knowledge checks throughout the programme, a written examination and a practical improvement project assignment. On passing, delegates receive the recognised Green Belt qualification, suitable evidence of project-level Lean Six Sigma competence for senior technical and operational role specifications.
Course format and delivery
The programme is delivered as self-paced eLearning across multiple modules, accessible on any device and resumable across sessions. The format provides substantial time for learners to develop the project assignment alongside the theoretical content, supported by video lessons, worked examples and downloadable templates.
Why this matters
The upgrade path from Yellow Belt to Green Belt is the most common route into structured project improvement leadership, and formal qualification signals genuine capability to prospective employers and internal stakeholders. Delegates who complete the upgrade lead projects more confidently, produce better benefit realisation from improvement work and build a foundation for progression to Black Belt and Master Black Belt levels. The programme pairs naturally with the full Green Belt programme for delegates without prior Yellow Belt qualification, with the Process Mapping and Problem Solving courses for complementary working capability, and with the wider eLearning catalogue for flexible continuing development.
